| From Sheri and Lincoln Mayorga On August 30th we will be heading into the studio to record our second collaborative project: "American Snapshots: Two Hundred Years Of The American Spirit In Song." Lincoln and I have performed this program in New York, Chicago, and LA and though the task at hand be two hundred years, covering a variety of styles ("JUST 200 years?" our baritone friend, Doug Webster asked) we have found that Stephen Foster works well alongside Phil Ochs, Tom Lehrer, Annie Ross, John Jacob Niles, Malvina Reynolds, Bix Beiderbecke and "Barbara Ellen." Some choice musicians will be joining us and helping us to bring this repertoire into technicolor: Arnold Steinhardt (first violin/ Guarneri Quartet), Michael Newman and Laura Oltman (Newman and Oltman Guitar Duo), Loren Schoenberg (tenor sax/Jazz At Lincoln Center), Otto Gardner (acoustic bass/"Me And The Mailman"), and Sam Zucchini (drums and percussion/The Zucchini Brothers). To our delight, Greg Steele (Derek Studios) and Marilyn Ries ( Riessound), the "ears" behind our last project "On The Wrong Side Of The Railroad Tracks", will be joining us as our recording engineer and mastering master (that would be respectively). |
